R62.5 – MEDIA SAMPLER FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC
The R62.5 is an electronic musical instrument in which sounds are arranged and sequenced by physically rotating discs and colors. The device has emerged out of a critical examination with interfaces of current electronic instruments and represents a counter-concept to common reserved and rigid ways of use.
The object-oriented and dynamic performance of the R62.5 sequencer is highlighting and visualizing the musical loops which are an essential part of electronic genres. The movement, construction and colours enable the viewer to understand the processes and changes in the music, emphasising the virtuosity of the musician and the machine.
The name »R62.5« stands for the radius of the discs, measured in millimeters.
